Hoden

Hoden Province

Hoden was among the last to be integrated into the Isenian Empire. By and large, it was a peaceful takeover. Despite it's status as somewhat of a "backwater" province, Hoden is developing, albeit slowly.

Hoden Province is not without threats. While the Imperial Church has, by and large, been accepted by the populace, there are still those who follow the old Pagan gods, that resent the occupation. These Pagans mostly live in Glyglade Forrest, away from thier "civilised" bretherin.

Likewise, Feral Orcs in the area mount the occasional raid on the more remote areas of Hoden Province, taking as much as they can from the town-folk.

Hoden is the Govorning Seat of Hoden Province. It is from this place that the Province takes it's name, as per Isenian tradition. Here, his Grace, the Lord Hoden, rules Hoden province, and stays at his castle.

Hoden is a prosperous town mainly because it serves as a trading Hub of the Province. Goods come in from Vier, to the North, Oreton, to the  South, and from other provinces to the South and West. Most of Hoden's population live  by farming grain from the surrounding countryside.

Vier is a small trading town, founded on the estuary of the River Adun. The influence of foreign ideas and (relatively) exotic goods has already affected local culture, and Vier boasts a fine Theatre, where, among other performers, Baine the Playwright composes dramas and comedies

Goods that come into Vier are usually sent to Hoden. To get their, a traveller can either take the long way, by going west and then south at Godric's Ford, or the quicker route thourgh Glyglade Forrest - although this is increasingly dangerous, as Pagan bandits grow ever-bolder.

In 876 AS, Godric Arion, lead by a prophetic dream, discovered a ford in the River Adun and settled there with his family. As the Ford was a key point in the Vier/Hoden route, more families settled there.

Roughly half of the inhabitants of this backwater's backwater make a  living farming, while other families provide craftsman's trades in the village.

Oreton is a small town, built on the tail of the Ridgeback Mountain range. It was founded as a means to exploit the rich natural deposits of Iron Ore in the mountain. As a result, most of the townsfolk make a living by the Ore, either mining it, smelting it, shaping it, or trading it.

The Factor of the Mining enterprise is Sulian Alric, who stays in his walled estate in Oreton.

Meadowgreen started out as a simple fort, placed to protect travellers from other Districts from the threat of bandits. As time went on, those involved in the construction, as well as retired soldiers of the Legion, set up houses and farms for thier familie. Now, Meadowgreen sports a fine Tavern, a Blacksmith, a general store, and the Church.
